How to Find Your Stream Key on Twitch, YouTube, and Kick

By StreamerBoard Staff·July 29, 2026·4 min read
By the end of this guide, you'll know exactly where to find your stream key on any major platform — and how to keep it safe once you have it.

What a stream key actually is

Your stream key is a private code that connects your broadcasting software (like OBS) to your account on a specific platform. It's how the platform knows the video you're sending is actually yours. You'll paste it into OBS once, and it stays connected until you change it.

Twitch

  • Go to your Twitch Creator Dashboard.
  • Click Settings → Stream in the left sidebar.
  • Your Primary Stream key is at the top — click "Copy" (Twitch hides it by default; click "Show key" first).

YouTube

  • Open YouTube Studio and click "Go Live" (top right, or under Create).
  • On the Stream tab, your stream key is listed under Stream Settings.
  • YouTube generates a new key periodically for security — if streaming stops working, check here first.

Kick

  • Log into your Kick creator dashboard.
  • Go to Settings → Stream.
  • Your stream key and RTMP URL are both listed there — you'll need both in OBS.

Keep it private

Treat your stream key like a password — anyone who has it can stream to your channel as if they were you. Never share a screenshot that shows it, and never paste it in chat, Discord, or a support ticket. If you ever think it's been exposed, regenerate a new one immediately from the same settings page.
